Uncle Howard tells the moving story of filmmaker Howard Brookner, and his nephew’s personal journey, 25 years after Howard’s death, to discover the legacy of a life and career cut short by AIDS. Brookner cut his creative teeth with an acclaimed 1983 documentary about iconic writer William Burroughs. Through conversations with Howard’s family and friends— including Jim Jarmusch and Robert Wilson— a picture emerges of a man who becomes more of an enigma as we learn more about him.
