The Naughton Gallery presents Queen & Slim as part of its SCREEN/PRINT series, with a free poster designed by Brazilian illustrator Daniel Batista for each attendee.
Oscar nominated Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Jodie Turner-Smith (The Neon Demon) star as a couple on their first date who become fugitives after an altercation with the police. As the film unfolds, the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for African Americans across the country.
Within a narrative that’s clearly reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, Melina Matsoukas (Master of None, Beyoncé's Formation video) tackles the pain of systemic racism and continued police brutality towards African Americans in the States, whilst also telling a beautiful, powerful and thoroughly modern black love story.
The Naughton Gallery and UsFolk illustration agency present Queen & Slim as the next instalment in their popular SCREEN/PRINT series, through which illustrators are commissioned to create new posters for films which have inspired or influenced their practices. All ticket holders will receive a limited edition print by Brazilian illustrator Daniel Batista. SCREEN/PRINT is generously supported by the Queen's Annual Fund.
