Free talk by Dr. Dara Waldron, Limerick Institute of Technology.

This talk reflects on The Koker Trilogy by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, in light of its recent release as part of the Criterion Classic series on Blue Ray DVD.

The trilogy deals with the impact of the 1990 earthquake in Northern Iran and marks Kiarostami's move from documentary into feature filmmaking. The talk addresses the trilogy's challenge to the documentary tradition, with some additional focus on contemporary documentary filmmakers who have been influenced by Kiarostami.

This free talk is presented by the Centre for Documentary Research at Queen’s University.
