The first WANDA: Feminism and Moving Image (9-12 February) will feature talks and discussions on feminist film practice as well as screenings of new and classic work from independent feminist filmmakers in different locations around Belfast. See wandabelfast.com for the full programme.
Following the lives of abortion health care providers in the southern United States, Trapped reveals how recent legislation changes at best encroach on heath workers’ ability to care for patients and at worst lead to the closure of clinics. Director Dawn Porter embarked on the project when she heard the state of Mississippi had only one such clinic left. Along the way she found many warm and courageous health workers who feature in the film.
The screening will be preceded by the short film Our Right To Choose (Dir. Hanan Dirya, 9 mins).
