When a mystery tide of poisoned sealife washes ashore on England’s North East coast, grief gives way to a turbulent quest for answers, led by the unlikeliest of rebels.

Stan Rennie and his family have worked the same stretch of coastline, where the river meets the sea, for centuries. He knows the tides, the weather, the jokes. But when a vast tide of poisoned crabs, lobsters and shellfish carpets miles of beach, his world is turned upside down overnight. As officials dodge responsibility and his own health declines, Stan becomes the unlikely figurehead of a campaign to uncover what really happened.

Directed by acclaimed documentarian Jeanie Finlay (The Great Hip Hop Hoax), this is a wry David and Goliath story, told with gallows humour and a strong accent, about the grief of navigating a world which has suddenly, inexplicably changed forever.

This preview screening will feature an in-person Q&A with director Jeanie Finlay.
