The band’s initial sound was described as a mix of afro-gospel-jazz-blues-rock. They experimented with a lot more in the ensuing years before eventually defining the disco sound with songs like  ‘Let’s Groove Tonight’.

Founded by the visionary Maurice White, the film tracks the fractious yet fruitful history of the band through its many iterations, line-ups and musical styles.
