Corvette is an aspiring fashion designer and leader of The Velvet Gang, a group of ‘boosters’ who rob clothes from fashion entrepreneur Christie Smith’s boutiques. But when Smith steals one of Corvette’s designs, The Velvet Gang are pushed to the next level.

Boots Riley’s film is a wild fashion fever dream and a rally cry against the system.
