Changes to our ticketing

25 July 2025

From Fri 1 Aug, there will be a few changes to our ticket prices.

Changes to our ticketing

As you might have seen at the end of last year, we had our most successful year ever in terms of admissions. More and more people are coming through our door to see world-class cinema. Most independent cinemas in the UK are still operating below the levels they had pre-pandemic. It’s thanks to our audiences, who, like us, are willing to take risks and try new things, that we’re doing so well.

Despite this success, like many small businesses, we have found the cost of running the venue has risen sharply. Increases to salaries, utilities and online services have all added up. To ensure our financial security for now and for the future, we need to make some changes.

QFT is not for profit. Any surplus made in QFT is invested directly back in the cinema to maintain its upkeep and ongoing operations. When we take the decision to raise ticket prices, it’s not for investors to get their slice of the pie. It’s to make sure we keep the lights on. To make sure our staff are adequately compensated for the work they do. To ensure that our work remains culturally driven and for the whole film loving community in Belfast. To maintain and improve the venue and to hopefully, eventually get cup holders in screen 2.

In addition to modest ticket price increases, we’re also introducing an online booking fee of £1 per ticket (with £3 maximum in a single transaction). There won't be a booking fee on free tickets i.e. QFT Member free tickets, CEA Comps, free events. The booking fee will not be applicable for in-venue bookings.

Our new ticket prices for all standard screenings (including matinees):

Adult  £9.80
Senior  £8.50
Disabled £6.50
Claimant £6
QUB Staff £8.50
Student £6.50
Child £6.50
LUMI £6
Family  £26.50
Members' Monday £6

There are no changes to Premium or Stage on Screen tickets.

We understand that no one likes price increases. Even us. We want our cinema to remain as accessible as possible, while ensuring that we have consistent, reliable income.

We’re committed to looking at other ways to raise revenue, including grants and individual giving. We already receive support from BFI, Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Screen, Department for Communities and Queen’s University Belfast. We believe that we offer a public good and that good art should be for everyone.

If you’re interested in supporting us, here are some ways you can help:
