QFT presents a season of films as part of the global celebrations of the centenary of Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007), one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. This season follows the reissue of The Touch (1971) in February and will continue in April with Summer with Monika (1953), Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) and Cries and Whispers (1972).
The Magic Flute
Ingmar Bergman's film of Mozart's masterpiece is one of the greatest screen versions of an opera ever made.
Ingmar Bergman’s allegory about a medieval knight (Max von Sydow) who plays chess with Death (a white-faced, shrouded figure played by Bengt Ekerot) was a landmark of arthouse cinema in the late 1950s.
