Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel features mesmerising performances by Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.
Agnes (Buckley), the wife of William Shakespeare (Mescal), struggles to come to terms with the loss of their only son, Hamnet – the grief driving a wedge between the couple. Shakespeare channels the tragedy and his sorrow into his work, creating Hamlet.
Zhao (Nomadland, The Rider) brings a rawness and honesty to this profound portrait of love, grief and the power of storytelling.
The 5.30pm screening on Mon 26 Jan will be followed by a Reclaim The Frame recorded Q&A (14 mins) with director Chloé Zhao, lead actor Jessie Buckley & author Maggie O'Farrell. The screening and Q&A will include descriptive subtitles.
Reclaim The Frame is a charity that champions marginalised perspectives in cinema, connecting with audiences and communities through special screenings and events across the UK.
