Fresh from Sundance, Dirty God is a film about a spirited young Londoner picking up the pieces following an acid attack.

From an inner London housing estate and with limited ambition beyond partying, Jade's one good card was her looks. Her face has been reconstructed, but her beauty is gone, her life, changed forever. Jade needs to figure out how to rebuild herself in a claustrophobic, appearance-obsessed world.

Still reeling from the attack and the aftermath of surgery, Jade is told to accept what has happened and move on. Then she stumbles across the hidden world of online liaisons, uncovering the passion and connection she’s craved in a joyful, often entertaining way. But when a casually cruel work colleague sets out to expose her, her life is turned upside down once more. As family life and friendships begin to crumble, Jade must take drastic action.

Dirty God is a candid, vibrant film about visual appearance, courage and self-acceptance in the Instagram Age.

This preview screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s co-screenwriter, Susie Farrell. Dirty God is released on 7 June.
