Cinemagic presents short films made by young people from Northern Ireland, aged 16-19, and produced during BFI Film Academy Network Programmes.
The showcase will celebrate the achievements of the participants and will be an opportunity for young filmmakers to network and share their work with new audiences.
After the showcase join fellow filmmakers and film industry representatives to hear about opportunities in short filmmaking from funding to script development and exhibition. Panel members include professionals from BFI Film Academy, Northern Ireland Screen and Northern Ireland based talent in producing and production design.
Cinemagic BFI Film Academy Showcase:
Therapy (2022) - A troubled young man, Brian, struggles to open-up to his therapist about his relationship with his friends, Seamus, and Joseph, as he reflects on the last time he saw them.
BFI Young Filmmakers: Eoin Bateson, Erin Harding, Eve Connolly, Flavia McDowell, Tory Sears, Ty Young, Finn Gallagher, Oran Toland, Colleen Villamor.
Invictus (2022) - Jamie is a motivational speaker. He must navigate the uncertain path of his growing fame: will he conform with his management or speak his own truth?
BFI Young Filmmakers: James Bryan, David Doran, Neive McAlpin, Charlotte Davis, Alex Dorrans, Ben Campbell, Patrick Maginnis, Ruby Morrow, Orla Boyle, Deivis Tvaskunas.
The BFI Film Academy Network programme delivered by Cinemagic equips young filmmakers, passionate about film, with the knowledge, skills, insight, confidence, and practical training to help lay strong foundations for their pursuit of a career in the film industry. In addition to the industry and skills training and access to top professionals, the participants work in groups to make short films. A number of past participants in the programme have been involved in a series of exciting projects since their involvement with companies like HBO, Warner Brothers, BAFTA and Disney and some of our outstanding students were awarded places at the prestigious NFTS & Scottish Residential courses.

On the Pulse is funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and BFI FAN Film Exhibition Fund, awarding funds from National Lottery.
