Join Cinemagic for a celebratory showcase of young filmmaking talent, from Northern Ireland and Ireland, at the 2022 ‘On the Pulse’ Competition Shortlist Showcase.

As well as celebrating the work of young filmmakers, the showcase allows next-gen creatives to view films made by their peers and offers opportunities for them to network and talk movies!

At the showcase the shortlisted films will be presented before we announce the 2022 winner. Come along to celebrate the achievements of young people and meet the film making stars of the future.

COMPETITION SHORTS

Leave (Dir: Mollie Richardson, Jack McAlister, Sam Press) 

A group of online friends face adversity when an unknown user by the name of ‘Mr. X’ joins their video call, forcing them to unwillingly answer a series of personal questions relating to each of their secrets.

Hoard (Dir: Corey Luke Donnan) 

Hoard documents an ex-RUC officer as he discusses his personal history and expresses thoughts on modern-day Northern Ireland.

Wilderness (Dir: Daniel Ritchie)

In the Dark Ages, an inexperienced religious pilgrim journeys to her new parish across the Irish countryside. She is robbed along the road by a sarcastic leper, and as she tries to retrieve her possessions, the two have a surreal comedic encounter which sets them both on a new path.

Standing On Your Grave (Dir: Adam Howe)

In 1918 Ireland, a recently widowed young woman is stalked by a malevolent presence after finding a trinket on a nearby beach.

Kirill (Dir: Jasper Banerjee) 

Dedicated world champion powerlifter Kirill Sakharov, in the wake of setbacks from covid and injuries, re-examines his identity and drive to succeed in preparation for his underdog appearance at the British Open.

Little Boy Litter (Dir: Jack McHugh, Conor McNally) 

Propelled by a Candy Stick sugar rush, Little Boy Litter pedals and pilfers his way around the countryside in search of treasure among the trash that has been dumped in his locality. When the illegal dumpers spot him and mistake him for an environmental activist, they are touched by the boy's actions and decide to change their ways. This is very good news for nature but very bad business for Little Boy Litter...

Despite their fragile relationship, Maya and her mother must work together to prepare Alma’s body for burial.
