LUMI's young programmers present a screening and Q&A focusing on the story of one of the most divisive action groups of all-time, Extinction Rebellion, and their impact on the debate around climate change.
Maia Kenworthy and Elena Sánchez Bellot's Rebellion is the first feature-length documentary to tell the behind the scenes story of Extinction Rebellion, from its launch in 2018. Given unprecedented access, the filmmakers follow a group of unlikely allies who have come together to confront the climate emergency and depicts the highs and lows of the movement as they crash into the status quo - and each other. The film captures the human drama of social movements first hand and questions the health of our democracy, as we witness the right to protest come under attack.
This screening will be accompanied by a Q&A with co-directors Maia Kenworthy and Elena Sánchez Bellot, hosted by LUMI programmer Amy Nolan.
"Does an impressive job of charting a remarkable period of time when ordinary people took a stand and demanded to be heard." - Mark Adams, Business Doc Europe
