Part of Docs Ireland's Alison Millar Retrospective, examining Alison’s early career and the fascinating body of work that led to the creation of Lyra.

In 2008 Alison Millar spent a year filming the marching bands of the Shankill Road. Amongst the men she follows is Jordan, an eleven-year old aspiring drummer.

Millar discovers a mixture of entrenched prejudice, relief that the troubles are over, nostalgia for the days of paramilitary discipline, and a battened down resistance to talking about the past. There are tender moments in the film too - revealing the trauma attached to the past, exploring Jordan’s relationship with his father.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Alison and the films subject, viral internet star Jordan McKeag.
