The White Crow is the incredible true story of legendary dancer Rudolf Nureyev, brought vividly to life by Academy Award®-nominee Ralph Fiennes and BAFTA winning screenwriter David Hare.
Ralph Fiennes captures the raw physicality and brilliance of Rudolf Nureyev, whose escape to the West stunned the world at the height of the Cold War. Nureyev is played by world-class ballet performer Oleg Ivenko.
With his magnetic presence, Rudolf Nureyev emerged as ballet’s most famous star, a wild and beautiful dancer limited by the world of 1950s Leningrad. His flirtation with Western artists and ideas led him into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with the KGB at the height of the Cold War.
With a drum-tight script by David Hare, The White Crow offers a thrilling insight into Nureyev's dangerous defection, masterminded by the dancer’s great friend, 21 year-old Parisian Clara Saint. With an astonishing finale at Le Bourget airport in Paris, The White Crow is a gripping, revelatory look at a unique artist who transformed the world of ballet forever.
On the 75th anniversary of The Great Escape, historian and presenter Dan Snow hosts a commemorative evening featuring music, interviews with veterans and special guests.
