From Jafar Panahi (Taxi, No Bears) comes a smart comedy illustrating the fight for women's rights in Iran. Screening in 35mm.
During the 2006 World Cup qualifying match between Iran and Bahrain, numerous young women are caught and rounded up for dressing as men to gain access to the game. Guarded by soldiers in a holding pen with the match in earshot, the women attempt to keep updated on the score.
Due to gender segregation laws, women are banned from men's sporting events in Iran. Made without government permission and subsequently banned, the film was inspired by Panahi's own daughter sneaking into a football stadium after being refused entry.
