#WeAreQFT: Rose Baker
01 April 2020
Today's edition of #WeAreQFT celebrating the Belfast Film Festival features Shorts Co-ordinator Rose Baker who tells us what five (or more) films she'd watch while stuck at home, why she'd love to meet any Margaret Dumont character and what movie quote gets her every time.

You are stuck at home and your favourite cinema is closed. What five films do you watch?
Only five? I probably can’t stick to that…Definitely Chantal Akerman’s Jeanne Dielman (1975) and Joanna Hogg’s Exhibition (2013) for a good dose of domestic mirroring; Agnès Varda’s Le Bonheur (1965); Lynne Ramsay’s entire filmography; Celine Sciamma’s Girlhood (2014) and anything starring Goldie Hawn.
What three words would you use to describe QFT?
Cosy. Constant. Damascene.
What is your earliest cinema-going memory?
Edward Scissorhands (1990) at the Cannon with my mum.
What film do you dislike that everyone else loves?
La La Land (2016).
What is your favourite film soundtrack?
Probably Bullitt (1968) by the great Lalo Schifrin, but Three Days of the Condor (1975) is a close second.
What film character would you love to meet?
Any of the characters Margaret Dumont played in the Marx Brothers films. She was hilarious.
Who is your favourite film villain?
Hedley Lamarr.
What is your favourite movie quote?
In When Harry Met Sally when Sally Albright says: “It’s amazing, you look like a normal person but actually you’re the Angel of Death.” It gets me every time.
