When seventh album Sea Savage hit the American Billboard charts, cult Irish thrash band Gama Bomb were trapped by lockdowns, missing a drummer, and unable to tour. Survival Of The Fastest joins the group as they return to the UK and Europe on a quest to perform for 10,000 people at Hellfest, ‘The Glastonbury of Metal’.

Kiran Acharya's warm and wayward film, full of the band's trademark humour and pop-culture references, visits locations including Tokyo, Newry, Norwich, the Netherlands, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast and beyond. Survival Of The Fastest has been celebrated as a joyful chapter in the story of alternative music, following landmark Irish films such as Shellshock Rock and Good Vibrations.

An adventure in music from Metallica to the modern day, Survival Of The Fastest reflects on Gama Bomb's beginnings in the earliest sparks of Northern Ireland's peace process to their decades-long friendships as a band of friends trying to keep the show on the road.

Fresh from sell out screenings at Docs Ireland, The Irish Film Institute and winning Best Feature Documentary at Northampton Film Festival, Gama Bomb - Survival is the Fastest is ready to delight audiences at the home of Irish cinema in Belfast, Queen's Film Theatre.

The 3.00pm screening on Sun 18 May will be followed by a cast and crew Q&A, hosted by Hugh Odling-Smee (Film Hub NI).
