QFT Late is exploring the darker side of the festive season with a visit to the snow-covered streets of Gotham and Tim Burton's gritty take on the caped crusader.
It is Christmastime in Gotham and yet the holiday season isn't the time for goodwill among the city's criminals. Having disposed of The Joker, Batman (Michael Keaton) must now contend with power-mad millionaire Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) who desires political control by any means necessary and the grotesque Penguin (Danny DeVito), a mysterious man from the sewers who wants to join high society and sees Batman as an obstacle. When the dangerous but alluring Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) joins the fray, and appears to have her own agenda, the dark knight faces his toughest challenge yet.
The sequel to Burton's 1989 smash hit, Batman Returns features an appealing aesthetic that manages to be both Christmassy and a critique of Santa season. Together with great action and perfect casting Burton's film allows you to live your best goth Christmas.
