Award-winning director Jerry Rothwell's compelling documentary is a rare cinematic and sensorial insight into the world of non-speaking autistic people.

Based on the bestselling book by Naoki Higashida, The Reason I Jump blends Higashida’s revelatory descriptions of his autism, written when he was just 13, with intimate portraits of five remarkable young people, opening a window into an intense and overwhelming, but often joyful, sensory universe.

This film will start promptly 5 minutes after the advertised start time and will play without ads or trailers.

In order to assist with the accessibility and enjoyment of relaxed screenings of this title for our audiences, the film will be accompanied by a special subtitle stream which will include both subtitling of dialogue as well as warnings of potentially challenging or difficult moments within the film itself. These warnings will focus on moments that could be challenging from a visual, aural, and emotional perspective and will be accompanied by guidance text and symbols alerting viewers to the imminent approach of any such moments.
